The input shaft and the flywheel do indeed turn at different speeds during a gear shifting operation.


My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .

Should have clarified my comment. I was speaking of "in and out movement", such as the clutch and throw out bearing movements.
