Last night this thread went over 100,000 views! I want to thank all of those that have been checking it out, adding to it, and sharing it. I've noticed it is getting more views from outside our forum, as some of you have been sharing links on your blogs, other forums, and social media. Who knows, maybe looking at beautiful, original old Chevrolets will convince someone to restore one!

Last night I was surfing the VCCA page on Facebook, ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/50230437832/ ) and befriended Kerry Glenn. Kerry has been doing the same thing that I have been doing... stealing photos off of the internet, and posting them for their educational value to other non-profit sites!! His collection is large, and tied up most of my evening as I robbed him blind of his (well, someones!) pictures to share here with you guys!

I'll start with one for Charlie. I'm sure he knows the real story behind this 1941 coupe...

[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]

Would anyone out there know where and why this display of 1950's was set up?

[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]

From Kerry..."This advertising poster (18" by 24") dates from 1951 for the Paul N. Hogg Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Frigidaire dealership in the small town (pop. 800) of Atglen - Chester County, Pennsylvania. Mr. Hogg acquired the Chevrolet franchise in 1924 and the Frigidaire (a General Motors subsidiary until 1979) franchise shortly after (sold off in 1952), and the Oldsmobile franchise in 1932. The dealership was closed in a 1964 General Motors purge of small dealerships with obsolete buildings and facilities. P. N. Hogg died in 1978."

Brewster,

Thanks to you and all the other heavy hitters who post pictures. That includes, but is not limited to you, Ray and Daryl Scott. That there Ray fellow is the one from down under. :aust: I think that's his name. Who cares? Agrin Agrin

Anyway, over a 100K views is a testament to how much we enjoy some things immensely. Like photos. And engine bays (That's for you, CC. Who would have thunk it?) stressed

That heavily damaged 41 was a result of it being in a demolition derby in the midwest somewhere. All the other combatant vehicles were deuce and a half's (2 1/2 ton military trucks). After the event, I think it was Tiny or Uncle Ed snuck into the arena driving a 1938 and made off with the left door. Snatched it right off, The number "38" was painted on the door. They couldn't stand it. So that's what happened. Is too! It was still drivable! dance

Charlie computer

BTW: That tough old 41 won the derby. Did too! Agrin

Another great old picture moment today...

I was outside weeding the flower bed and, as happens quite often, all of a sudden there is a guy on the driveway, wanting to look at the Chevs. Eric is the nephew of my 90 year old neighbour, Bob. He owns 7 old cars, including a 1954 sedan, a 1961 Bel Air Flat Top Coupe, and a 1967 Camaro. Needless to say we had a lot to talk about! After an hour or so, Bob's wife Becky comes out holding this photo. Bob has not been doing well, and is confined to bed. He could hear us talking cars, so had Becky bring out the photo of his first new car, a 1951 special sedan. The photo was taken when the car was brand new. Obviously a special photo to Bob, as he had it blown up into an 8X10 print...

That's one serious "Rescue Truck," Brewster. Our Area 3 Director, Dave Gowan, would go nuts over that. He's a real nut for "specialty trucks." As far as I know, he's not on here much. Too bad he'll likely not see it.

The Dealership photo looks like 1917. The sedan on the right looks like it has the all weather top as pictured on page 20 of "Seventy Five Years Of Chevrolet"

Another great photo, Brewster. That kid was digging the ride in that "vette" I'm sure. I'd take a '59 Biscayne and call it a day.

Here's one of the Kickapoo Hotel and Shell service station in our fair city. Building still stands today. I think its a '46 on the street and if you squint you can make out another Chevy in the garage area I believe.

Here's a nearby shot of the same are in the late 1920's. I think there's a little 1926 Chevrolet (maybe a landau coupe?) in the front of the traffic scene. There's also a shop that specializes in "Chromium Plating". Sign us all up.

Great pics, Daryl! You need to get a current one of that building! It's cool how they knocked the wall out on the right side to put the garage entrance in...

That 55 Convertible reminds me of our wedding/honeymoon car. It was a 55 Convertible, yellow and white with green interior. It will be 56 years Saturday.

we had an identical 52 green steel woody back in the 60"'s. it had 225K miles on it when we bought it for $125. the stove bolt was worn out. i installed a 66 455ci Olds with muncie and a 57 chevy rear end. it was our daily driver for better than 6 years. we loaded it up one summer and took our youngest daughter on a cross country trip to so calif to visit friends. eventually the frame rust prompted us to sell the old girl. its currently in our area as a street rod. mike

The Grand, on Adelaide St. in Toronto would occasionally play motion pictures. In 1917, backed by a full orchestra and choir, one could see D.W. Griffith’s Intolerance. This picture was taken in May of 1920... Outside waits an early 490 Touring...
