Bruce ask me down in the 6 volt thread if I would show him my engine bay. Well, as I told the girl sitting in the desk next to me in the 5th grade, I'll show you mine if you show me yours. (Answer to test question) The colors are washed out due to flash. Looking for something in particular? So far I have elected to leave off the over flow tank and windshield washer bottle.

Other than the color "wash out" I see nothing incorrect. Whoes paint did you use?

Years ago I bought the repo AC that COT40's sells. I started many time to install it.
Last year, while installing the wiring, my gas gauge would not register correctly. The people that started the work on the car had installed all new tank, sending unit, and lines. However it sat for 10 years with only a small amount of gas.
So I dropped the tank and pulled the sender. Sure enough, the unit had corroded and a few spots of rust in the tank. Cleaned out the tank and new sender.
Now I alway keep the tank full and hope for the best.
If I could find a good, correct, filter like you have, I would probably install it. Maybe! For now, unless/until I have a problem I will do without.
One other point, I have seen "many" installed at the carb inlet and some others installed at the pump inlet, or outlet. Don't know WHERE is the best/safest???
Have you cured you "sometime" leak?

Dang Gene. You "had" to call me out.
The engine work was done in 2000 at White Post. They got the paint from Bill Hirsch. Well, as it has been discussed to no end here and other places their has been much confusion through the years.
When I finely started the car this past Fall the water pump failed (seal). Luckily I had just bought a spray can from COT40's (Bill Hirsch label) to have for what-ever.
My NAPA had the pump. Thought I was good-to-go. Not so.
Look closely at the pump in the pics. MUCH darker! Especially in natural light
Mad, yep. But at some point, you just have to accept the card you hold.
Life goes on, for a while, anyway.

Russell, you wait until you see my early 50's oil filter "woops" The reason i ask about the gas filter is that I had to make the gaskets for the old durex unit and I do not think I'm getting good gas flow to the carb.i made one for Fleet47 but don't know if he has tried it out yet..I think Lonnie may be making a gasket template for these 48 Durex filters,if so I may be able to fix you up with something a little more authentic. Bending the fuel line to accomidate the filter is a whole other issue

Russ; Really nice looking engine compartment.I can't quite figure out your disconnect on the battery. I can see the part on the neg post but can't see how the the other half of the switch on the cable is mounted ?? It looks like a nice system. What is the wire for that I see above the battery and disappearing down beside the battery ??

Go down to Electrical-6 volt. Better view.
The wire, is the wire to the under-seat heater. That is how the instruction sheet shows to route. That is a original wire and clips.

Bruce; Looks good! Hope to see the rest of the car soon. You may want to check on the htr hose clamps as they appear to be the wrong style for your car.

I thought the water pump looked darker but figured it just had less lighting. Even the "correct" darker gray engine paint changes color when photographed in bright light.

Bruce; I figure I might as well get in on this battery thing, so here goes. I positive-ly like your new battery and I can't think of one negative thing to say about it.
Seriously, it gives the engine bay that little extra pizzazz.

Well, yeah if we're gonna get "picky-picky" what are you using for the lb. pressure radiator cap...? If your not using the original "style" radiator...? I also thought you had the over flow radiator hose a little too high up on the side of the radiator for my tastes...But, who I am I to judge...?
