I beleive I went thru all the topics and did not find what I was looking for. I purchsed a 1956 Chevrolet 150 sedan in 1992 that needed fulll restoration. I felt and beleived it to have all the original body parts. The I.D. # indicated it would have had a 6 cylinder motro in it when new. The hood only had holes in it for the V and the top hood bird but not an emblem. at the last car show I attended, it brought upp a lot of discussion on wheter it was correct to have that V on the hood of a 6 cylinder car. I beleive maybe (now) it was a factory error as there are definitely no other holes in the hood, filled or otherwise for any other emblems. any ideas? thank you Pat

The 8 cylinder had the V with a smaller crest above it.....actually two pieces of trim. The 6 cylinder had tjust the larger crest.
I have never seen a factory goof as you mentioned. I would suspect either the hood was replaces with a used one from an 8 cylinder car or the previous owner likes the V.
