Can anyone tell me the proper installation procedure for the hoodlace with the wire insert on my 33 pickup. At the top of the cowl on each side of the hood hinge there are three small holes, which hole does the wire insert go? Is the wire just bent over and hooked in one of the holes. On the lower cowl does the wire just go straight into the lower hole and get bent over on the inside of the cowl. Any help would be appreciated, my email is nc6917h@aol.com or just let me know in this post Thanks in advance for any help.

I have seen several differences in the original installation. Most feed a free few inches of wire into the furthest hole bend it back on the inside of the cowl and then another 90 deg bend through the bottom hole. Bend a short section of wire flat to outside cowl metal. It will become a 180 deg bend as will the one in the furthest hole. With the top secured then tackle the bottom. Some do the same as the top (feed wire through the bottom hole pull tight, make the other bends and when the 90 deg. bent is pushed through the top hole then use a screwdriver to bend it down. There will be enough slack to just slide the screwdriver blade under the hoodlace and bend over the short piece of wire. Also have seen small fence staple (even seen two staples) that secures a loop in the wire end to the main sill. There are also other variations of those two.

The "J" bolt is then used to pull the wire tight. Does not need to be very tight as the hoodlace will relatively quickly stick to the cowl.
