I have the head off my '38 engine block. I would like to know if anyone might have pics of the block surface.
Removed the head because of a bad exhaust valve.
I have had no overheating problems but I have what appear to be 1/4 size holes that are inline with the head gasket to head. These holes are rather crappy in appearance so I'm curious if they are poor condition "steam holes" or the block is developing a problem.

After seeing Steve's posted video (Thank you Steve) and your pic I feel comfortable with taping off the top of the block and clean the hole with the proper size drill bit coated in grease to retain any chips.
