Gidday Fellas,

To top off a great year with my old 28's restoration, a couple of Sundays ago I drove "Monty" down to Melbourne and back, 159 miles or 260kms for the day.

Nice day out... we're missing summer up here! The picture on the freeway makes it look like you've got it all wound out in the hammer lane!

Gidday Fellas,

I'm cool with either side, makes for an exciting trip especially on those narrow country roads..

Hey Grant, those fenders are looking pretty shiny. I know you are not going to make Monty all pretty but have you started waxing those fenders son?
Bravo lad, keep on driving...whatever side of the road,

Hi Jerry,

No Monty has a daily rub down with WD40 or some other chemical.
Nothing that a few litres of primer would not fix.

Cheers

Ray

Gidday Fellas,

Hey Jerry, no mate, no wax at all on those guards, its "chassis" flat black or nothing laid down with a 4" brush crazy

Oh and a little wipe over with WD40 or what ever I have laying around the shed at the time to bring out the patina.

Cheers Grant.

Hey Jerry,

Grant's little wipe is a wash down, short of total imersion to most others. I have it on good authority that Monty does 18 miles to the gallon of petrol, and 2 litres of WD40 per 100 miles.

Cheers

Ray

Great to see an old car being properly treated as an old car. There is so much can be said for preserving versus completely restoring. I'm sure it attracted more attention than if it had been all gussied up!
I'm at a crossroads with my '31 Coach, have restored the running chassis, cleaned up and made engine decent, and repaired and primed body only. Would like to think I could stop the restoration stuff now, put fenders/running boards back on as is, hood as is, all brightwork/interior stuff as is and just drive it. Sure looks like fun to me!! The great looking weather makes me envious to, rain, snow, about -2C here today.

Gotta love that look...I'll tell ya, I thought I'd try to polish and wax off twenty years of "patina"...What a mistake...Got one half done before I realized it looked better oxidized...At least in mine eye.

I think they all look great. The old saying still applies today as it did when first coined, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." I say jolly right-on to you whether you enjoy patina, wash and wax or a bucket of rust...and even if you drive on the wrong side of the road! The important thing is that we all love 'em and because of our love, they live today. Most importantly, they are not assigned the doomsday life of the junkyard. Hip, hip horray to all of you (and me) for "keeping 'em alive."

Merry Christmas all,
Jerry

Great pics.

Say can you read that heat gage or do you have to lean over to the right some?

Gidday Fellas,

That one pictured is the "leaning" motometer gauge, I now have the newer updated version for us crazy right hand drivers installed and it is a heap better as I can keep one eye firmly on it.

Cheers Grant.

Hey Grant, great trip. Funny as the wife and I were actually at the Esplanade Sunday Market on the 16th Dec.

Did you have to refuel on the trip or did you go down and back on the one tank?

Gidday Fellas,

Hey Skidd, I refilled for the trip back, very strong side winds down and back so I want to be sure...
