Yes, the museum is closing but not going away. The building that housed the museum is a part of the Chrysler Engineering complex and owned by Chrysler. Some of the vehicles it contained belong to Chrysler while many others were on loan. As reported here locally, Chrysler is attempting to purchase many of the "on loan" vehicles along with others vehicles deemed of interest to the collection. The group of volunteers that maintained and operated the facility over the years was unable to stay solvent and not making sufficient funds to cover expenses. In the future the museum will be under total control of Chrysler and will operate much like the GM Heritage Center, open by appointment only.
