As a show car I wonder how many points deductions it gets for not having the original parts? Like the air filter, gas filter, and a few other things I noticed not correct.
I'm not knocking the car as a whole as it's one of the best I've seen. But I still wonder how it stands to be judged at a car show, Stock, Modified, or Street Rod.

How about $644 for a rusty one that more than likely won't work? Can you believe that price?

I think a lot of that price is driven by the Town & Country horn switch, a rare item indeed. I used a three position toggle switch for my horns rather than search for and spend big bucks on the OEM switch.

Where does that switch mount? I had to make a small 3 switch panel for the FOG/REV/HEAT.

Never seen one mounted but if I remember right I read somewhere that it mounts on the flat part of the dash above the instrument cluster similar to the wiper control.

Hi Steve,

I have horns which work, just need the cross bracket to mount it. Not a show stopper. Worst case, I try to make my own.

Monitor ebay regularly. I see horns fairly regularly. Most have the bracket. I don't think I've ever seen just the bracket on ebay but sometimes they go fairly cheap if the horns are pretty crusty.

DAVE, None of my business, but probably worth posting your need in "Parts Wanted" Forum....Just a thought.

Right on Steve! Lots of neat stuff on that Coupe; but the best part IS the Steering Wheel. The worst 'part' is the color. Red just doesn't work on an essentially stock appearing '37. Now on a '37 Resto-Rod....entirely different story. My 2 cents.

Touche....but only sorta.

And I quote, with underlining added for emphasis....

I presume you get what I'm saying.

Wow this site is getting all over the place. I haven't kept up. The S wire is about the same length on the banjo and the regular horn button. You adjust by moving the mast stem jacket up or down by loosening the collar at the steering gear and the collar at the bottom of the dash. That moves the horn bearing to the position that works.
The "Town and Country" horn switch was not on the '37 or '38; only the '39. They weren't called town and country until '39. They were called "Matched Tone Horns" in '37 and '38. The installation lit calls for removing the regular horn and taping off the leads when installing the fancy ones.
The banjo steering wheel was a mottled brown color in '37 and ivory in '38. Also, the '38 has an additional center ring in the casting. (No I'm not talking about the optional horn ring you could add in '38.) But the most important difference is that the '37 was held to the mast by a woodward key while the '38 was splined as well. They are not interchangeable. Sorry to be so wordy!

I wondered why I couldn't find the switch in my accessory book.
I just bought a beautiful 38 banjo wheel from Kochs. It should be here in a week or so. I'll post photos for sure. I guess I'm putting off another old chevy to work on. I almost bought a 47 that was slick but it was a lowrider that needed to have the frame changed out. The deal fell thru because I waited to long to act. Oh well. The 47 forum has the info about that subject. Thanks for the information.

Obviously, the paint color on any car is simply a matter of taste and taste varies widely. And, so many color options keeps things interesting.

IMHO, regardless of color (and I like red) that is one very sharp '37!!! 'Wish I had it and he had a nicer one.
