For 1940 Chevrolet, the twin bumper strips were painted black from the factory. I have an NOS bumper for my car.

I was able to locate some 1940 wingtips and they were striped in red, which looks ok, but I want to keep it as close to stock as possible. Happy Thanksgiving,

No 1940 Chevrolets had red bumper stripes. The production bumper guards, the folding trunk guard, and the wing tips (if your lucky enough to have the) all should be black.

About 30 years ago I purchased an NOS 1940 bumper. I still have it and it has factory Black stripes on the bumper.
