Trying to get my 3100 pickup running. Does anyone have the stock arm, (goes thru the firewall)they could sell or know someone who does? I have a 235 engine. The arm has a "round ball" on gas pedal end. Mine seems to be bent, forcing the vertical linkage arm that connects to carb linkage, to stick up too high. When connected to carb, it opens the carb a little, as if I was stepping on the pedal a bit. Thanks for any help. Chris

Does your carb have an insulator between it and the intake manifold? ![[Linked Image from htsmall.ecklerstrucks.com]](http://htsmall.ecklerstrucks.com/assets/trk/images/size/265x265/sku/129205.jpg) If not, the carb will sit 3/4" too low, which makes your carburator rod assembly appear to be 3/4" too long. If you do not have an insulator, hard plastic insulators are available from most suppliers. If possible, buy an original bakelite insulator from a forum member or online. I feel that they fit better. Buy an insulator that is designed for your engine and carb. The Factory Assembly Manual and Shop Manual do not require a gasket between the insulator and the carb or manifold. > Factory Assembly Manual Diagram Confirm that all of your parts are in the right position. > My '54 235 with insulator under the carb- Lonnie

The problem is more likly in the vertical rod. Chevy had several lengths over the years. Would be easy to modify or make a new one.

Check with Old Car Parts in Portland, OR. Also, try Adler's Antique Auto in Stephentown, NY. He specializes in old Chevy truck salvage parts. You may be able to buy spare linkages from either salvage outfit. BTW--Bob Adler is a VCCA member. You can find him in the directory.
Good luck.
