Hello All,
Just tried to move my car and it wont start. Voltage reaches the gauges once i turn the ignition, but once i press the starter button, no cranking at all and the gauges go dead. It started once but it does nothing now. All original 6volts. I have yet to check anything. Just thought i'd ask first. Much thx in advance.

My first thought is the starter is stuck or jammed. If the armature will not turn the current draw is maxed.

I would guess a possible bad battery connection or a bad cable.

UPDATE !!!

Ok, I tested the battery and it's dead. So I hooked up my 6 volt starter/charger and got a weird humming and buzzing sound once I stepped on the starter. I'm assuming as Chipper mentioned that the starter is toast. But your further input is greatly appreciated.

A completely dead battery in the mix is still a problem...Either wait 'till it has some charge before attempting to start or get a new one...Will it hold any charge at all...?

UPDATE # 2 !!!

Ok, all posts and cables were fine, but I cleaned them a little more just for the sake of it. And replaced the starter with my spare. Along with charging the battery for two hours, but it would start to drop voltage once I could measure it. So I tried it anyway with the new starter and same results with the humming buzzing sound. So, im going to replace the battery first thing after work tomorrow and cross my fingers.

FINAL UPDATE

Turns out battery was dead due to two cells going out after two years of usage. Go figure ( they just dont make things like they use to). Replaced and back on the road, with system working perfect. Thanks everyone once again.

I figured it was just the battery...It was causing a "dead short" in the circuit ( very common )...My Battery Starter/Charger will buzz when the battery is just NG ( no good ) too...

Glad to hear your back on the road...!
