Need some help: I have a NOS bumper which I believe is for a 34 - 36 Chevrolet, but I don't know if it's for the front or the back of a vehicle. I can tell you that the bumper has a bow outward 3 or 4 inches. [The Masters' front bumper bowed out, didn't it?] I'd like to advertise it for sale in the G & D, but it would certainly be helpful to have an accurate description.

Any help will be appreciated.

I'm guessing you don't have the packaging or the part number. Can you tell us what the overall length is?....Joe

There is a chart in some of the Master Parts Catalogs which describes bumper face bars by their length, width, number of holes, shape and spacing of holes. If you will PM me some info, I will see what I can find.

Thanks for your reply, Mike.

I have the 1929-1948 & the 1929-1953 Master Parts Catalogs but haven't come across the chart you mentioned. Do you know if the chart is in either of these Catalogs? I'll get some accurate measurements and reply to you... BTW; what's PM mean in your reply?

Thanks.

I looked on page 739 in the Supplementary Data section and found the 41-53 Front & Rear Bumper Parts listing, however, that doesn't address the year(s) I think my bumper may be... a '33 to '36.... and... I did not see a similar Bumper Parts listing section in my '29 - '48 Master Parts Catalog book.

592144 is the part number for the front bumper on a 1936 FB or R with spring type bumper....Joe

Being a newbie in the forum, I am getting a bit confused here and there...

Measurements of the bumper:
61 1/4" straight across;
3 1/2" high;
2 square holes 29" apart;
GMD on back of face plate [General Motors Division?];
bumper bows out as if it is allowing space for the space tire on the back.
End of the bumper curl around on themselves leaving a place for a bolt to be dropped through
Note: I can take photos but how to send them ?

I didn't have time to double check per your measurements. I went by the number on the bumper...but it could be wrong. I will try to look this evening unless someone else does it before then...Joe

The 1942 parts book on pages 431-5 has illustrations and tables of car bumper identification.

Part number 592144 is listed under "Front Bumpers" "Usage" "1934-36 DA, DB, P, EB, Q, FB, R"

It is illustrated as type "D" which has a center bulge.

"L" (Length) = 60
"Y" (Width) = 3 1/2
"X" (Bow) = 6 1/2
"Z" (Between holes) = blank
"Remarks" = "2 sq. holes"

So looks like Joe was right or correct as the case may be.
