I pulled the bulbs from my dash as I was taking out the wiring harness. Found # 55 and # 51 bulbs. The 51's were in the high beam indicator and in the ignition switch light. Got some 55's from O'Riley's. They didn't show any 51's. What have you guys used?
Don't know why I cannot use 55's in all of the spots as the socket is the same for all of them.

In addition to intensity, the 51 bulb is a smaller diameter. The 55 is much larger, therefore, if you have the physical space to use the 55, then do so. You really don't need the extra brightness for the high beam indicator nor the ignition switch locator.

Don Schnapp's website, donsbulbs.com, has a wealth of information. Enter the bulb number in the "bulb Search" box on the search page, then choose "AC/Delco" for the brand. Scroll down and look on the right side for applications by GM brand. Enter a similar bulb that has a different number to see the differences. The specs of the bulb will be listed and an equivalent 6v or 12v bulb will shown. Think I will use the 55's for all of them. I picked up 2 at O'Rileys yesterday. They ordered 4 more for me. Be here Monday.
They are sold in a 2 pack @ $3.81 a pack.

Guess he's pretty proud of his bulbs! I never looked at the prices, only at the data on the site. I've learned enough good info on the site, that I might pay $8 for a 6v bulb that I needed. 'Course my '54 has been converted to 12v and offshore manufacturers produce low price 12v bulbs, so it's a moot point.
