If your problem with vacuum wipers is slow action with open throttle try dismantle, clean and lubricate. In most cases there will be a vast difference. I have also seen some fit a small vacuum tank in a inconspicuous position for a more even wiper operation.
As for fitting a second arm that could be somewhat more difficult.

Chevrolet Guy,
Since you are Street Rodding your car, I assume you are changing to 12 volts. Try Newport Engineering. They make and sell many electric wiper conversions for old cars.

Jim,
You can Google Newport Engineering and find them. I just looked, however and they do not currently offer anything for the 35 Standard.

Somoewhere on the site is a discussion of the Trico Electrovac. It's a little DC driven vacuum pump to help vacuum wiper motors. My dad had one on his '49 Chevy, but they were used later on fuel injected cars, according to the posters. I'd much rather do that than mess up the orighnal system. Someone said they had a 12V one, I think.
