Hi Grant,

Jack 39 rdstr is correct. you need to work on each curve as a seperate plane. As you mentioned its just getting your head around it.

Fight the good fight

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

When I did mine I used the old pieces as a pattern. (I assume you have these) I cut some sheet metal to the exact shape and bend of the inside multi radius curve aswell as the out side curve for templates. I then cut a larger than need block to suit the overall dimnsions. I then cut it very roughly on a bansaw and then used and angle grinder to shape it to my templates. I worked really well. The bracket Jack mentioned goes on the inside of the curve. I hand formed a steel bracket to on top of the wood and overlapped it to the rear frame for better strenght.
Chris, hope this helps

Many thanks for the heads up on the curved timbers, some good ideas there with the metal band / straping for added strength.

Cheers Grant.
