I've been following the difference as they worked on it. I think it's the price that is going to be hard to get over.... dance

I checked it out a few times. They're doing great work. The sheetmetal alone will be high, but it should pay off. I can't wait to see it.

"Forget about it" Charlie is walking around with a nose & glasses on ashamed to show his face while that so called body shop is buttering him up with tails of grandeur, while they are going out at night and buying up old beat up cattle watering tanks for scrap price to try to beat the metal into some vague resemblance of a car body....Good luck with that...When he gets that hulk back (if ever)and drives through the country side the cattle in the fields he passes will give a big MOOOO in acknowledgement of their long lost watering tank......Ed

Hey Charlie! They took your car off the web site. Does that mean you got it back or they sold it down the river?

C'mon man! We need an update!

Never mind the sheetmetal...That's light compared to the bondo.
There was a article on TV news the other day about the largest batch of bondo ever mixed in the country...they showed a film of a concrete truck backed up and pouring "Bondo" instead of concrete....When the camera paned back Lo & Behold there was Charlies old hulk of a long ago junked cabrocrap on the receiving end of the load of Bondo..........Ed

Hope this works this time. This was just after unloading from the shop that installed the floor pans. Notice any difference? How about 17K worth? hood I'll try to send a photo of the floor pans, as well.

Okay, here is the pans. The item covered up in the blanket is the dash.

I'm sick and tired of this project and the money pit is is. After 35K into it so far I ain't much better off than I was to start with. I'm putting it in the garage until i get some more money to throw away on it or my enthusim picks back up again. I thinking about scraping the project and letting someone else have a go at it. may just junk it. It will likely just sit where it is until I pass on then it can be somebody else's worry. Do I sound depressed. You bet!

I fully understand you plait. Just let it set a while. It take a while to recover from a hit in the gut or lower. Go do something else for a while. After several months go back and look at it again. Consider what it is worth as it is and what it can be. Besides it is a '41 and not a '38. Are you going to let this chuck hole in life break your axle? Doubt it. Just think of the pride when it is finished. Lesser folks would just quit but the tough guys persevere.

Charlie,
The floor pans look great! Just think of how beautiful it will be when it is done and the pride you can feel after bringing it back to life. beer2

Hi Charlie,

I am doing a complete restoration on a 1928 Convertible Sport Cabriolet. I purposely did not keep cost records on the project. But the void in my bank account is enormous. Lets meet somewhere and have a beer and cry on each others shoulder.

Well Charlie, what they did to it looks great! But now ya gotta be sure and have some good brakes, because you won't be able to shove your feet through the floor boards any more to stop the thing!

I wish I could throw that kind of money at my old junker, but I have to just putter away at fixing it as best I can. I have a few rust spots I need to "cut and paste", but most of it is just getting some "rust killer" to transform and strengthen it. My big expense for now is about $1000 for radiator, engine, trans and connecting stuff if I can get the guy to take me out to his "yard" to get the stuff. With the good weather going south, I'm not sure when that might happen.

I've got the local high school kids straightening and painting my fenders for the price of paint, and when I get the rest of it ready, they can throw a paint job on it for the price of materials. They are slow, but the instructor knows his business and makes sure they do a good job of it.

But back to YOU.... Take a break from it for a while if you must, but consider what you have invested in it so far and how much better it is now than what it was. And think about what it can become. It will become the beauty it once was if you just keep after it slow and steady.

Is that your car Mike? I'm impressed. Beside the shark teeth, washboards and fender skirts I zoomed in and spoted spinner wheel, spot light and foot scrapers. What other accories does she have?
I'd like to add my 2 cents worth of encouragement to Charlie. I've had five '41 converts since high school (1955) ratty- stocker, orignal, modified and show quality. But nothing gives me greater pleasure than driving my curent "beater" to an All CAl, Good Guys or a tour with the local region. Whaterever you have to spend It's worth it!
