We have installed a 235 from a 1960 passenger car into our 52 pick up, replacing the cracked block 216. Anyway, we've discovered the throttle linkage pivot bolt mount in the 235 is about 3" further back on the block than the original 216. As such, the throttle linkage, gas pedal push rod, etc do no line up. Has anyone found a solution (aftermarket conversion bracket, etc) or do we just need to fabricate a revised mounting point for the pivot bolt?

Oreo,

Just a couple of thoughts here. My 48 car has 62 235 in it and naturally the same problem with throttle linkage. Whomever installed that motor put the bell crank on and than heated the push rod and put a big ol "U" in it to compensate for the difference in length. (Shortened it up) Can't say what they did as far as throttle linkage going to carb, but it's a straight run up from bell crank to carb and not sure what they used as far as the rod goes.

I would think that changing the throttle rod and push rod would be easier than trying to fabricate new bell crank to go on eng.

Best to ya no matter what you decide to do.

Jim.

Thanks Jim.
I think we will simply make a new mounting position for the pivot bolt that matches the original 216 position rather than mess with modifying the various linkage pieces or the bell crank. A simple 1/4 " piece of steel, mounted to the 235 pivot hole, extending forward the necessary 3" to match the position of the 216 hole, tap it for the pivot bolt, and mount everything in the same postion as it originally was on the 216. Should function as intended I would think.
