There are still good original, restorable, and restored cars being made into rods, every day. All you have to do to prove it is to watch ebay and see what is offered for sale. When a seller is offering all of the driveline components of a given car and he states the original miles or the miles since a complete rebuild, what other conclusion is to be drawn? To me, however, there is no comparison to be made between modern rodding, in all its permutations, and building a period correct dirt track car or gow job from parts gathered at random.

David, I have a 25 speedster which is all Chevrolet. I have participated on several tours with the VCCA and have enjoyed the activity. Beside this group there is another dedicated to strictly speedsters mostly ford but not restricted too. It is the Northwest Vintage Speedsters, Portland, and Origin, which I am a member. They are a division of the Model T club and have restrictions as follows: Four cylinders, being 34 or older with no restrictions on modifications. Chest out their web site = www.nwvintagespeedstersView all the photos than come back here to ask questions about the 28 chevy engine.

25speedster,
Thanks for posting- what number is your speedster on the nwvs site? I'm working on a '28 engine in a '26 chassis and am leaning towards doing a speedster (I don't have enough of a body to rebuild/restore). Thinking about either doing a Mercury-type body, or imitate the Cliff Durant's "Baby Chevrolet" (yes, I know it's a Miller chassis, lol) or possibly something like the Daun speedster on nwvs.
I'm really interested in your mods on the early Chevrolet 4- any info/input would be greatly welcomed!!!
Thanks, Bill

restrictions as follows: Four cylinders, being 34 or older with no restrictions on modifications. That sounds like me. Too bad I'm so far away. I'd love to go on some tours with them. If early Chevy sheetmetal weren't so hard to come by, I'd probably look at doing a "pure" build (I like speedster bodies ala Mercury or Rootlieb, but I want to do a fenderless roadster). Thanks for the reply, I'd love to see some pictures of the '25! -Dave

Jack, thanks for posting the correct web address.
Bill, I have owned this 25 for 7 years and have kept it running and drivable. All modifications were done before my ownership. What I know is it has aluminum pistons, 28 head, and it is a hoot to drive. Twin pipes all the way back with a good sound. I don't have a number and never sent the NWVS a picture.
Dave, the photos on the nwvs site are worth the trip. I wlll try to get you a photo of mine.

Due to the fact that I have 3 old cars and 2 garage stalls to keep them in--plus the fact that money would come in handy about now--I have decided to sell my speedster. After 20 years of "development", working on it has lost it's magic. 177CID, drilled, counterbalanced, and balanced crank and flywheel. Modified cam, Olds 3 port, polished and magnifluxed A rods. Four speed Volvo trans. Rest of running gear from another infamous (starts with a F) maker. 14--yes--fourteen inch front brakes. Chassis handcrafted from 7 ga formed steel channel. Body hand made -ash framing, aluminum covered. ![[Linked Image from i267.photobucket.com]](http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii307/herbkephart/autos%20-%20bikes/DSC00310.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i267.photobucket.com]](http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii307/herbkephart/autos%20-%20bikes/DSC00309.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i267.photobucket.com]](http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii307/herbkephart/autos%20-%20bikes/DSC00308.jpg) Bill McKay (Mac the Yankee) can give you his opinion of the workmanship, as he has seen the car If interested --PM me and and we can trade phone # and talk Herb Kephart
