what, no one commenting on the disgustingly fake 41 sedan delivery on e bay??
how does e bay accept an ad for a fake car, at a price that is
so far in outta space, a missile would miss it!!!!! lololol
i sure hope the owner doesn't believe the story someone musta
sold him on, when he bought the car. whoever that was should be
investigated.
would not mind seeing an accurate fake, but to see such a fraudulent example like this is a disgrace to all 41 enthusiasts.

Item #180646401500. The fisher tag says "Style no. 41-1271" which according to chev of the forties makes it a "Sedan Delivery Master Deluxe Series". Not a "Special Deluxe".

BTW: The paint is supposed to be a #293 Squadron Grey not a Black.

The Chevrolet parts book also confirms that the Style Number shown on the cowl tag is that of a 1941 Master Deluxe Sedan Delivery.

Can you give those of us that are not familiar with a 1941 Sedan Delivery a rundown as to why this vehicle is a fake?

gene,
that body plate starts it off. it came off the assembly line as body 304 built in oakland california. as a master deluxe. if it had been special order- the style would have been blank or XXX. the paint and trim #'s would have been different too.
the interior doesn't look anything like a master or special deluxe of 1941. the door panels have no designs, the dash is not an "easter" model, or fleetline model, nor are the window reveals. the directional signal is not 41 chevy, which if it were the taillights would have been dual 39's not 41-48's. the passenger seat is-???????????????? who knows, but the design and material don't look like any 41 i have ever seen. the interior back of the front seat, looks more like some of the tijuana rolling you know whats, than any 41 sedan delvry
ever did that i am aware of. i am sure i could find a lot more
that don't seem right, if i had my old collection to compare stuff too. i am only speaking from memory. in 1967 when i worked for the old grey dog out of san diego, i was at the san ysidro greyhound station, seperated from mexico only by a chain link fence daily. i remember seeing these kind of vehicles, all the time, except they had fringes inside, and dice or something hanging from the rear view mirror and a couple of chicks sitting at the open back door. you can decipher that!!!!! course a dear old friend that owned a chevy dealership here in las vegas, used to tell me there was a u know what for every seat. so we wait and wonder who that you know what might be that would possibly buy this vehicle!!!! happy easter to come all. i am grateful to be here yet, as i almost lost my entire home to a fire march 14.
thank god, no one got hurt, and the damages were mostly smoke which was extensive. it was caused by a workman, near the water heater outside, not his fault. keep the old chavies rolling please. expecially the original 41's. thank you one and all. richie

So you're saying it IS a sedan delivery but the owner is misrepresenting it as another model. I think we're under the impression that you're saying it's not a sedan delivery. I'm guessing you're saying the restoration is incorrect also.
I wouldn't assessorize a sedan delivery either but that what makes the world go around.

WOW, richie, try not to hold back !! bigl

As the proud owner of a 41 S.D. Coupe I am not to savvy on Delivery Sedans. Not many around here, but they are cool.

Now I see a few things different than you. Front seat fabric looks is like orig. style/mat'l. Back of seat being red vinyl looking but maybe delivery's had that type of cover {?}

Dash is "wood grained' like some 41's, but appears to be a bit “lighter” in color/tone than some I've seen. Prettiest 41 Dash/interior I have ever seen was/is on a 41 Bus. Couple at the Colorado Meet. And to no surprise, that Coupe is also the nicest ”˜41 I've ever seen. And accessorized to the hill. Yep ! a Biz Coupe full of ”˜41 accessories.

This delivery has original "looking” skirts, bit it’s missing the small SS piece that fills the gap between the skirt & lower body trim mold.

Has full wheel covers. Turn signal look after market. Being in So. Cal. the capitol for vintage/classic Chevy's of this era I've seen MAYBE 2-3 OEM turn signals. Vast majority are after market, like on this delivery.

Special, Master, what ever ? Seems like an OK car to me. The price is indeed lofty. But who knows...maybe someone wants it real bad, and after they buy it I sure hope they call me. I have a 41 Couple I’d be happy to sell them, at my price of course. bigl bigl bigl

I would expect a buyer of any old car to heed the words, Caveat Emptor! dance

Enjoy the ride,
Michael41

it is definetly a sedan delivery. the body plate tells us all,
it is originally a master deluxe sedan delivery built in oakland ca. and it was squadron grey, a real pretty color.
either the seller was misrepresented too, or the seller is misrepresenting. either way, it is a total excuse for what it is being represented as. and that is just plain fact.
the story in the sellers ad, states that the car was special ordered by a furrier in beverly hills,ca. i would love to see the proof of that. the body plate just don't back up any idea of it being special ordered. if it was, numbers special ordered, would have been blank, or XXX as chevrolet had done, like a cameo cream spl dlx 5 pass sport cpe, with the paint number factory XXX. cameo cream was a cvt color only.
if this seller doesn't have the proof from the person he bought it from, then by gosh that is the person who should be made to answer for the story being told about this misrepresented vehicle. if this seller is responsible for the story, then maybe he should be investigated.
unfortunately, a former president of this great club was arrested, and convicted and became a felon, back in the 80's for doing just this kind of stuff. i guess the law does take a dim view of things like this, especially done in a commercial venture, and this seller is indicating that the seller is a dealer in pittsburgh, pa.
as too being accessorized, i agree, it is up to each individual to do that. and the more power to that individual.
would i do it to a sedan delivery, or coupe pickup or a truck, i would not, unless it was a functional accessory, like a spot lite, or passing lamp, or heater, maybe a smaller radio. in the day, a lot of people coming out of the depression did not have a ton of money, and economical was the word of the day i believe. that is why they bought our beautiful economical chevies to begin with. and in my opinion 1941 was a pinnacle in design beauty, in the auto industry.
i wish all well.

So then, as I understand it, the 1941 Sedan Delivery on eBay is not a fake after all since it is a real sedan delivery.....however, the vehicle has been misrepresented. Is that correct?

michael,
i promise to never hold back. i fear no man on earth, only god. and the truth is the truth.
i only speak the facts as i know them to be on a 41 chevrolet, as i used to have a literature collection that stood over 6 feet high, and included daily, and weekly, and monthly service and parts updates, as well as the usual monthly service bulletins, and then the usual sales catalogs, accessory catalogs and data books and dealer promos, and then the data books on mechanicals.
i made a study in depth on the 41's as i sure did love them. at one time or another i owned 19 of them. i have forgotten a ton, but i remember a ton too.
by the way, in addtion to all the other things i mentioned. that is not a 41 spotlight, they had the round ball, and those are 47-48 full wheel covers too on this sed. dlvry.
before i send someone to buy your spl dlx cpe, by gosh i would try to sell them a piece of the brooklyn bridge as soon as sell them a 41 chevy this misrepresented!!!!!!
keep em between the lines.

yes, the body plate identifies it as what it is supposed to be, a 41 master deluxe sedan delivery, with no chevrolet indications of it having been special ordered. as to the misrepresentation, you draw your own conclusion, and then decide who is the misrepresenter, this seller or the seller who sold it to him, based on his little profile at the bottom of the add. can he prove a special order, as represented or not. or can the seller who sold it to him, prove the statement made about it being special ordered.
hope this answers your question.
by the way, please keep up the great work you do for my club and the G&D.

Yep, that answers my question and I pretty much figured that the car was totally misrepresented by reading some of the other postings. What got us off track initially was that the thread started out suggesting that the sedan delivery was a fake, which means that it never was a sedan delivery.

Now wait just a minute here, are you trying to tell me the piece of the Brooklyn Bridge I own is fake ? Dam!!!

I wish I had a collection of 41 data like you do/did. I'm doing Ok, for a novice. I keep my eyes open and now and then I find a book or something. But my stack is not over 6 inches.

So I'm no authority but I do like 41's and I seem to have come to a good understanding about this & that. Although every time I read the VCCA "41 thread I learn something new.

Yes I noticed the Spot Light as well, and a few other accessories not necessarily for 1941. But not everyone is as well versed as you or others regarding 41’s or accessories.

I’ve seen a ton of so-called 41 accessories on ebay that are not for 41’s. Just the way the world works I guess.

WOW!!!!! BAM!!!! it just hit me, why don't you offer up your knowledge and interest regarding 41's and become the 1941 tech guy. Hasn't been one in about 5 years VCCA could sure use one.

I know I'd be a call-in- ya. For example, what color/shade/tone is the 41 Wood Grain dash supposed to be I've seen dark, light, medium, Walnut, Blonde, Cherry, Mahogany, and a few in between.

If you have any of you old 41 “books” for sale, please let me know.

Enjoy the ride,
Michael41

PS: I have those Felt Balls hanging in my 41. Seems to keep the flies away.

PSS: Pls. send any one you want to see/buy my Chevy. I will be happy to point out the 3 things that are NOT original to 41. And I'll throw in a piece the bridge.

guess it is all in the darned semantics, and how you percieve them. if anything is a wrongly done up as this 41 chevy is, then to me personally it has to be a fake.
if someone did a correct upgrade of a 41 special deluxe sedan delivery, i could dig that with joy. if they actually made it a special deluxe, and not a hyped special deluxe so incorrectly done, it should be hidden away someplace forever, in my opinion. if you are going to spend a ton on a vehicle like this, then at- least do it so it don't become the object of derision in some peoples minds. only my opinion here. best of luck richie

Yep, I agree. However, to me the term "fake" should be used if an actual 1941 Chevrolet sedan was made into a 1941 sedan delivery. I would consider that a fake....or a clone, since it is something that was made over into what it never was from the factory.

The vehicle featured on eBay always was a sedan delivery so it really is not a fake. However, as you expertly pointed out to us that are not in the know, its restoration deviates from what it should be and the seller is totally misrepresenting the car and its history to the buying public.

i still am not thinking of the semantics you are. not important to me. if it is so blatantly wrong, to me it is a fake. i have a question for you.
how would you classify a 1941 chevrolet cantrell bodied station wagon, that usually started their lives as 2 door town sedans with body plate to match, yet they are a 41 special deluxe station wagon, body by cantrell, and a big diffence there is the spare tire is behind the drivers seat. another difference was a little higher roof profile? that to me is a known change, and it is then authentic and never a fake.
this car too me was so blatantly wrong, in almost every single way you can think of, that i stand by what i called it simply put, A FAKE restoration, of a real car made to be what it is. FAKE IN EVERY RESPECT I CAN TELL. DESIGNED TO FOOL PEOPLE. if you have a $1 bill and it is counterfeit, to me that is a FAKE dollar bill. still a dollar bill, but FAKE.
hope u understand my semantics on this.
don't forget in your junkyarding to check for old spark plug wire ends, that have the little GM imprinted on them, that plug onto the plug itself. it is just behind that triangle thingy that sticks into the wire to hold it there. could be a judging victory for someone who so worries about details. not that i want to tell you what to do, but it might be helpful to some people.
best of luck.

Someone really used there imagination in putting that one together. Used Special Deluxe reveal moulding for the windshiels and door windows (from a 4 door), custom set in sedan rail lights and used a sedan delivert light for the rear tag. The garnish mouldings are painted up-side-down. The tan was on the bottom and wood grains on the top. Front seat is from a 2 door or club coupe. Dash is Special Deluxe. Has a early heater and the spot light is from a much later year. The Fulton visor shown was not available till 1947. If it was a Special Deluxe the body number would have been a 1000 and not a 1200. Just some of the things I noticed.....but it is a good looking "thing".

The Filling Station has the "GM" spark plug ends listed in their catalog if that helps. The spark plug ends are a reproduction made in China.....so they are probably fake! bigl bigl

you sure are some kind of semantical chicago lawyer or something which i can't quite figure out.
i do not believe my friend gene would sell anything that is fake. a reproduction, advertised that way is not FAKE. it is a reproduction.
a restoration, advertised that way, is not a fake either, if advertised as such. it becomes a fake, or if you will, a counterfeit, when advertised, and presented as this
fake 41 so called special deluxe sedan delivery is presented.
i think you need to go back to school to learn what semantics mean and do.
sometimes they just don't quite influence people, or impress others.just a CHICAGO lawyer tactic, that can given the right circumstance come back and bite. that is a funny thing about semantics. a good rx for them, is use only as needed, and very lightly. the return bite can really smart. bow wow!!!!!

Hi Richy, just got home...long day. checked my PM and did not see any messages from ya.

The way Gene "see's" the car reminds me of that Ol'Johnny Cash song...goes something like, "I've got a 52,53,54 Cadillac.."

Enjoy,
