I need information on how to remove the trunk handle and locking

mechanism on my 1940 coupe.

The 1940 Chevrolets had 2 types of trunk closing mechanisms. One is a side locking and the other is center deck lid locking. I have no idea if you have a Canadian produced 1940 Chevy coupe, but if you have the center locking handle, look under the trunk lid. You will see one hex nut on the end of the trunk handle. Take off the hex nut and then pull the trunk handle off of the deck lid.
There are 2 different trunk handles for the 1940 Chevrolets. The length of the shaft varies based on whether the car is side locking or center locking.

Thank you for reply. I sprayed wd40 around shaft and after a couple of days the handle came out. Must have been rusted in.
