i'm rebuilding the steering gear for my 36 master does anyone know the correct lubricant i don't understand what my repair manuel calls for thank's,mark

Hi Mark. My 1935 shop manual calls for GM "All Season" Steering Gear lubricant, which is probably what your 1936 manual says too. The original lubricant apparently was a light grease. If oil is used it will leak out unless you upgrade the steering box by adding a seal to the sector shaft. I put chassis grease in mine and then added gear lub. It mixed together well and didn't leak.
