Ray: The ash receiver that you are referring to is called the "Front Compartment Ash Receiver" and the part number is 4023602. That type of ash receiver is located in the top of the instrument panel and all 1932 models used it except for the Cabriolet and Landau Phaeton. The 4040500 ash receiver that Chippy Dippy is talking about is a flush mount insert type of ash receiver and it is located in the passenger side front door in various models for 1930, 1931 and 1932. But, it was not used in the 1932 Sport Coupe since that vehicle already had the instrument panel ash receiver. However, the Chevrolet parts book does show that Job Number 32558 (which is the Sport Coupe) used the passenger side door ash receiver also. I believe that is a misprint in the parts book because the Sport Coupe already has the instrument panel ash receiver and according to other 1932 literature the Sport Coupe for that year only came with one ash receiver. And, the 1932 Cabriolet did use the door ash receiver, so the parts book should have stated that part number 4040500 was used in Job Number 32568 (the Cabriolet) instead of 32558 (the Sport Coupe).

Thanks Dog. I didn't think the Sport Coupe needed another ash receiver. After just finishing my interior I'm sure I didn't see any holes for an ash reciever on the doors or the window regulator wood for the recessed type. Nice pick up on that parts book misprint!

To confirm, on my '31 Landau, I just looked at the original regulator boards and I have THREE opening for insert ash receivers. Passenger door. Both rear quarters. Wow... Three in the car... I hadn't realized that before... that does seem a little excessive.
They all had cardboard facing cutouts tacked to them so they looked like they'd been used, not covered up. Does this seem reasonable to have three, all the same style?

There is no cut out in the regulator board on the passenger door for a flush mount and I am not aware of a third surface mount ash receiver for this 32 LP.

Until today, the pieces in the photos were considered as surplus by me. Please tell me if these items resemble the ladies vanity case referred to by JYD? ![[Linked Image from i12.photobucket.com]](http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a208/32confederation/DSC00762.jpg) There is no centre bar in the top insert (therefore, nothing to grind out a cigarette butt on), could this be for the vanity case?

"All but the Landau Phaeton had one in the passenger door." The 1932 Landau Phaeton had an ash receiver and a vanity case only, and both were located in the rear compartment.

Thanks 32confederation for posting those pics of the ladies' vanity case just above. I have what seems to be the piece (mounting plate only) pictured in the center of the photo. It's in nice shape w/no rust. Now that we are talking about another item, was the ladies' vanity case offered as an option for the '32 Sport Coupe? If not, the plate I have is FREE to one of us here that needs it for their restoration.

Did the ashtray for 1930 look the same as the bottom tray in photo #1 and the left hand shot in photo #2?

Ray: Nope, the Ladies Vanity Case was not an option for the Sport Coupe......where would you install it? The Ladies Vanity Case was only used in the rear compartments of the Special Sedan, the Landau Phaeton and the 5-Passenger Coupe. 30USA1: The passenger side front door ash receiver insert for the 1930 Sport Coupe was the same as the one used in 1931 for the Sport Coupe, the Cabriolet, the Landau Phaeton and it was also the same as the ash receiver used in the 1932 Cabriolet.

Well Dog you never know. I could put it on the passenger door foward of the window crank. Na, rather have it go to a good home.
