I spent many hours looking for a Ohio 1952 plate, at antique malls, swap meets and flea markets. Now I find out they didn't issue one, just a window sticker. So I found 1951 plates but the D.O.M.V. will not register them because they are not the correct year. I run them on the car anyway, hope the cop lets me slide.

Looks like it's time to contact your state representative and senator and ask them to get the ball rolling on some changes to the state law.

I don't think many states will register the old plate. NC won't either. But they do allow you to run the old plate as long as you have the current registration document and the Horseless Carriage, Vintage Vehicle (as appropriate) or regular (current year and sticker) plate on board (It doesn't have to be displayed). The HC, Vintage, or regular) plate and registration must be produced if any authorized persons ask to see it. As to the 52 Ohio windshield sticker, or wherever it was supposed to be displayed, could a good faximity be produced and displayed. Does anyone in Ohio (or anywhere) make one. Yours (Ohio or any state) is the first I've heard of that way to show regisrtation. Wouldn't that be a hoot for you to show the officer the sticker and say, "What now, sir? Or words to that effect. Have you ever heard of anyone being cited for displaying a 51 plate on a 52? It seems to me that, upon explanation of something they probably didn't even know, the authority would look the other way. Good luck, Charlie BTW: I'd run the tag and if cited state your argument to the judge. What's a hundred bucks when you're having fun?

There are some nice reproduction 1952 Ohio License Windshield Stickers available. I have seen them at the Miami Valley region VCCA Swap Meet in February. I have also seen them at Springfield in May. You will need an old fashioned typewriter to fill in the blanks. Using this with a 1951 License Plate is the correct display of a 1952 License. You might call Columbus Ohio Office of the BMV as for the Historic Vehicle Department. The local registrars sometimes don't know what to do with these cases so they choose to do nothing. If you have troudle finding the 1952 sticker let me know via PM and I'll see what I can do.

I have the sticker, but it will not stay on the window. I have tryed differant adhesives but the sun must have an effect on them. I also know it is to be displayed on the lower right side.

I have seen these applied using clean contact paper. Works very good for several years. Allow enough contact paper around the edge. Best of luck.
