Here's a couple of interesting ones. The first one is of a 20's Chevy transformed into a railroad speeder. It was used to haul people and supplies to a remote logging camp near Hearst, ON in the 40's. The other one is of the motorcade on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II's (Princess at the time) visit to Kapuskasing, ON in 1951. She must have been in the third car which looks like a Caddy.

Those are a couple nice pictures Pat... sure would be cool to see more of the royal parade!

Randy... we should take the cars and your truck over there sometime this summer, and reshoot the picture!

Brewster and Randy,

Unfortunately the Inn isn't there any more. It was demolished in 2008, exactly when it was 80 years old. I slept thee on my wedding night, in the same suite Ole Liz had stayed in.

This is how I picture the Ambassador Bridge in July... minus the Mercury, and likely my car with the hood up!! Check out the '52 taxi in the background as well...

I don't know the situation of the picture, but would assume it's taken in 1957 since that's the newest car in the photo... Isn't it odd that there are 4 '57 Chevs all pulled over?

Checking out a new 1939.... Were the double sided white walls a factory option, or did the dealer dress this up?

Double sided whitewalls were the standard way to make whitewall tires during pre-WWII period. Don't know exactly when they went to single-sided WW tire.

A promotional vehicle for Mobile Oil, a 1934 Master. Note the painted hubcaps. I wonder if they still exist?

Looks like J V Baldwin Motor Co. on the building and sign above it. If you google the name you find a Chevy dealer in Los Angeles, CA. If you click on the flickr link it brings up the exact photo.

Ed: "Okay fellas... How are we going to sell these beautiful new '53's??"

Jim: "Well Ed, I say we take one top of the line model, and surround it with five top of the line models, and roll it on out there!"

Ed: "Jim... I like the cut of your jib!"

It's been a while since I (or anyone else...hint!) added to the old photo corner...

First up is a shot from the Canadian National Exposition (CNE) from 1955. I copied the picture from urbantoronto.ca and it was uploaded and taken by a user on that site also named Brewster. Of note is the Corvette Nomad show car.
[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]

The second picture is from The City of Toronto archives, and shows a neat '53 sedan delivery. I would guess the picture is late '54 going by the Buick coming the other way and the licence plate colour.

That "36 was used in a number of movies over the years.t was also used in The Grapes of Wrath. Note thefront door wing vent windows have been removed. At one point the movie cars were sold off and that car is still around.

I still don't have the hang of posting pix; but this link to a 1951 photo shows
several Chevys and Buicks. One of the Chevys is among my favorites.
Another one is missing the.....

Nice pic Bill... I love the old street cars as well. I wonder if that's your '51?

Here's a scene from the Ohio State fair... I think it's surprising that they're not crowded around that beautiful '34!

From one of my Mom's old photo albums... A cousin of hers owned a '58 Impala Convertible. In July of 1960 it is loaded with the boat and ready to go to an Aunt's cottage. Info on the back says the kittens names were Harry, Blondie, Chester, and Duke...just in case you were wondering! I thought the boat should have been loaded the other way... but fuel cost was not a concern(?) !!
