I removed the coil from the engine and now it seems the bracket won't seperate from the coil. Is it made onto the coil? When I try to pull it off it seems like it is made to the coil. This doesn't sound right. Before I get any tougher I thought I'd ask about it.

If its an original 1938 coil the bracket is permentally attached to the coil.

This seems strange to me ???

On the coil on my 38 coupe, I think it's original, the bracket separates from the coil.
The parts book lists them as separate items....COIL 1933 TO 1940 #186461 ALL.....COIL BRACKET 33 TO 40 #1871821 ALL Except COA.
Am I missing something here???.. THANX ED

ED 1938

The part # 186461 is the part # for a replacement coil. The replacements came as 2 unattached units in 1 package. The original coil from the factory had the mounting bracket spot welded to the coil body but all of the replacements were 2 piece. They show up on E-Bay now & then. Actually they came as 3 piece units you had to attach the cover that the Electrolock attached to also.
