For original info, take a look at the Carter spec sheets on this site. You can page forward and back at the top left.computer

I've got a Rochester on a 216 intake,but the engine is 235. Everything works great, but I think I should have a Carter 391.

The 1934 Standard is a Carter 285-S.

In 1941, the Carter 515-S and the Carter 518-S were also used.

The Rochester was a legitimate replacement for the Carter on your 38, I believe. If you have a Rochester for a 216 on your 235, it probably has a larger jet in it.

My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .

Your engine is cobbled together being a 235 engine with a 216 manifold set-up. Only a 216 carb will fit on a 216 intake, Carter or Rochester. The Rochester for a 216 wil have "about" a #51 jet in it. The 235 Rochester will have about a #58 jet. The larger jet was used for the 235 carb because it has a larger throttle bore and the mixter would require more gas at full throttle.

I would suggest looking for a 1950-1962 235 inake and exhaust maunifold and making things right.

As long as the engine is not original who would care as to what make of carburetor it has.
