Mother,
If you would bother to think instead just reacting you just might realize that the majority of supplier literature on specific makes or models is based on contracts or official communication from the vehicle companies. In the particular case in this thread, I am sure that DuPont didn't just make up the information but based their bulletin on information received from Chevrolet. I can assure you that supplier literature was copied to Chevrolet often before distributed outside the companies (at least it was when I worked for a GM supplier). I dare say that it was reviewed more strenuously than internal documents. Again I can tell you of that based on personal experience.

Then you apparently assume that the production plants produced vehicles strictly adhering to internal published standards. I have never talked to anyone that actually worked in a GM assembly plant that didn't have several stories about what was done "to keep the line running" or "to mess with the inspectors" or "challenge dealers to find the weenie".

I was under the impression that the VCCA stood for the restoration & preservation of old Chevies based on how they actually came off the assembly line.
Judging by this thread.... anyone can type up anything they want & call it correct information.....
& the VCCA judges will buy it without question.

I was able to dig up an obscure document from the M.T archives that refutes the body color runningboard claim.....

I wonder if the judges will buy it ?

My 55 1st with the same colors and two tone options (interior and exterior) has body color running boards. The truck came out of the Oakland assembly plant. See my avatar picture.
