I found an old chevy truck in the riverbed on a farm I live in Namibia (Africa). I wonder if anyone could help me to ID the truck.... I have put some pics on flickr, maybe they can be of some help, Chevy Pics

Many thanks, I am sure this old chev has a story to tell...

Sean, Welcome to the site! That's a 1941 passenger car, not a truck. It's hard to tell which body style it is based on what's there. Did it have a cowl or body tag?

Here's a link to a pick of a restored one...

Bill, I'm not sure... I just pasted it from the pics on the home page. I've never met Mike, but his car is a beauty!

Hi Brewster,

If the picture is from the home page, I'd bet it's his. I've never met Mike either; but we've talked a fair amount on the email deal and in here also. When he has time, he contributes quite a bit to CC. He also did that big survey a while back, is a Board Member and, of course, sells lots of the So Cal caps. I just saw a BB sales post a few days ago.

I'm a drooling over Mike's car, alright. Very nice car. Could be improved, though. Put some shark teeth on it. Some trim rims as well. Rub out the red paint where it doesn't belong. Re-set the fog lights. Send that sun visor back to Africa to rust away with the rest of the 41 parts in the lead thread. Grin. Mike and I have gone round and round about my advise. He ain't gonna change none. Charlie

BTW: I wonder, does Mike have to have a series of mirrors fitted inside the cabin in order to be able to see the reflection in the right hand peep mirror or is he just long neck-ed?

BTW2: His hats are very nice. If you cut the bill off, they make a good mechanics cap which, when worn, will allow you to change the erl in that old Chevy without lubricating yer hair, as well. Buy one. Try it. Works for me!

Superb! Thank you.. You should see where the car is - in a small riverbed 20kms west of the nearest road (maybe further in 1940's). Im going to dig it out and see if I can find a nameplate or something more. Will take me about 2 weeks or so and I should have a few more clues :-)

Many thanks
