I bought a 35 chevy pickup in pieces and am trying to verify the numbers on a metal tag attached to the fire wall. The tag looks original but I'm not sure about its location. All of the wood had been removed from the cab so no sill to look at. There are two sets of numbers on the tag. They are in line but the first is larger (3EB08). The second is (10028). Any help would be appreciated.

3 = St. Louis, Missouri factory
EB = 1935 pickup
08 = Truck was made in August of 1935
10028 = The number of the run in that factory. Serial numbers started at 1,001 so your truck was the 9,028th vehicle made in the St. Louis factory in 1935.

Thanks junkyard dog,
I thought you might have the answer.
Do you think the tag on the firewall is correct or was it originally on the sill like the cars?

The pickup trucks that I have seen had the serial number plate on the cowl (firewall).
