Actually, the specs. call for normal daytime running at 15 to 18 amps. That is too high. For most running conditions, at generator speed (about 1,700 RPM), 12 amps is perfect. At that setting, normally at idle the amp gauge will show approx. 1 to 3 amps charge. With the lights on at idle you will see about 2 to 3 amps discharge. The voltage output will run between 8.2 to 8.5 volts.

I have a 1927 Chevy Capital AA 4 Door also a 1927 Chevy Touring car, a 1936 Chevy 1/2 ton and a 2010 Corvette LT3 Convertible and a 1953 Packard Caribbean. My tow car is a 2011 Suburban.
