Trying to get my vent windows installed and need a clue about any weatherstrip between door metal and vent assy. It appears that water would drain directly by the vent down into the door without some kind of weatherstrip. Have checked my factory service manual but do not see any illustration to show this area. Appreciate your input, Ray

The best blow-up I can find is of a 1958 post 4 door - door.....and there is no type of seal shown in the picture. Also can find nothing in the parts book. Its customary to have areas where water can run inside the door.....and out the drain holes provided on the bottom.
On older models the vent window weather strip its self over hung the gap and sealed to the door. The later ones were not like that.

Hi Radar,

There was no material used from the assembly plant between the vent window assembly and the outer door skin.

Over the years, I have found a "dum dum" type material between the two and it was only found during disassembly. You had to look ever so close to maybe see a hint of it showing prior to disassembly.

As Gene mentions, any water would easily fall through to the bottom of the door and out the oval holes which were stamped into the inner door skin.
