I don't think anyone make a repo grill that I have seen. The best thing is to get one rechromed, if you have a usable old one.
Look on Ebay or Craigs list for one that will probably have to be rechromes.
I just sent a couple of bars to a guy in Oregon that was getting his rechromed. He didn't tell me the price. Some of the chrome shops may have one. Stay away from the Bumper Boyz in LA.
They are expensive if you find a good one.

I could have sworn that I've seen repro 1948 grills for sale, but I just called the company that I thought was selling them at Hershey and they said that no one is reproducing them. Go figure. Anyway, I also called Dick Moffitt's Chevrolet Parts in Springfield, OH to see what they had. He has an original grill that he is having rechromed. He wants $1200 for it when it's done. His number is 937-325-7861.

When I did my '48 I used straight parts from 3 grills and a T bar from a swap meet. That made 13 pieces to chrome. And the top pot metal bar was NOS purchased from a fellow club member. There were knockoffs at JC Whitney and M Wards and I'd advise you to avoid them. There were knockoffs of the T Bar also with the propeller bolt stamped in. Avoid this too.

Thank's Guys,I don't understand why there not being reproduced,I see all others being reproduced,go figure, mine has a small crease in one of the lower bars,I bet it would cost an arm and leg to rechrome.

If that grille were to be reproduced I would bet it would sell for over $1500. There are a lot of pieces their. At this time there are no really correct reproductions of pre 1955 grilles.

Also the supply and demand has to be considered as well. The manufacturers probably feel that they couldn't sell enough '48 grills at the price needed to recoup their cost.

Hey Heavy: I used the Bumper Boyz, and my experience was OK, but I met with them at a local show and could pick the set I wanted from several that they had available. The one I got was pretty nice and has held up OK for the few years that I have had it on the car. They did have several other sets for sale there at the show that didn't look nearly as nice. If you tried to order a set to be shipped there's no telling what you might get. They do want your old part as a core. Without a core it's more $$.

Great news, another wise Chevy owner comming to THE PLACE for good Chevy advice.

My 2 cents is, the guys on the site WILL HELP YOU. And, I've also had very poor experience with the products Bumber Boys sells.

Enjoy the ride,

I got my grill many years ago from Chevs of 40's...It was made in Germany..It wasn't cheap and the chrome was poor,no top peice or t-bar...I'm glad i stil have all my old parts I'm sure I will need to have them re-plated when the repo flakes out..the real thing is always better, chef
