I am now able (health-wise) to do a little computer stuff again...hope I will be able to do more as time goes by. I can also now get outside for short periods of time. Sorry for being gone, but some things none of us have any control over.

My first trip out was to a friend's shop...funny how an invite to see classic Chevys can give you just enough added umph to get up plus I thought it might help some of you guys...

See you later, Lord willin' and the creek don't rise...

CHANGE OF PLANS SALE:

A friend of mine has decided not to finish restoring his ”˜57s because he and his wife have purchased a big RV and are going to tour the country from now on with only pits stops here.

He has been collecting all things ’57 forever and has a 40’ by 60’ shop jammed full of ’57 cars and pieces and parts, he did the flea market and car show circuits for over 20 years and basally anytime he found something for a ’57 he would buy it. Since they are now going to do the RV thing they have sold their home and shop to a Furd car collector from down south of us and have to clear everything out within a couple of months so he and the Furds can move in….so everything Chevy has to go and go fairly fast.

So if you are looking for a ’57 piece or part you should get in touch with him before the word gets out and everything is gone. I walked around inside his shop the other day and I saw:

283 complete motors (4)

’57 transmissions

7 or 8 complete instrument clusters

Wheel covers

Drive shafts

Jacks

A pile of bumpers

A LARGE pile of chrome and stainless steel trim

Wiring harness

Continental kit

Head light bezels

Light bars

Rims

Radios

Clocks

Carbs

Power steering unit

Several sets of skirts (Foxcraft, because we know Chevy did not offer skirts in ’57)

Plus piles of all kinds of different mechanical and sheet metal parts

Plus boxes and boxes and boxes of smaller parts and pieces…

In addition to the parts he has 4 ’57 cars for sale:

---a ’57 convertible that he had started restoring, turquoise and white, 283, auto, garage kept for the past 18 years, all original, no rust, complete with new interior floor pans from firewall to trunk installed, new carpets, seat covers, door panels, white top, rear bumper with continental kit; all other parts are original/used and in near new condition…extra parts include convertible top frame, chrome pieces, fender skirts, and pictures and 15 years of Classic Chevy Magazines…asking $42,500.

---a ’57 sport coupe that has not been started…asking $20,000

---a ’57 sport coupe that is a complete body and frame and axles w/o the drive train or interior installed, but has all of the parts for the car are included…asking $15,000

---a ”˜57 Handyman wagon that is complete…asking $5,000.

He is a real nice guy so get in touch with him if you need something for a ’57 and see if he has it (I got a couple of accessories that I had been looking for) you might have to give him some time to look and see if he has what you want. I believe he should be able to send you email pictures of the parts or cars that you are interested in.

This is as close as I have come to “barn finds” in many years.

Are we to assume you are still a member of VCCA? You have your VCCA number x' out in your profile. Any reason or just an oversite?

Once again you really know how to make someone feel really welcome in the club Ray.

Yes, I am a member, got my first G&D in '74.

New G&D front cover is a '53 PU (green), front plate is com. A37584.

You have a lot more free time on your hands then I do.

By the way there is a PM system here on Chat.
