I recently replaced the wiring harness on my 1967 Chevelle after converting from a 230 to a 327 (keeping it as stock as possible). A fair amount of prep work went into cleaning the under carriage and engine bay during the transition. The problem now however is that my back up lights are not working. I have visually checked the bulbs and the fuse has been replaced with no luck. I did have some difficulties with the shift linkage and there was some tinkering that was done under the hood to get this to work well.

Any thoughts?

I would suspect that the back-up light switch (located on top of steering column under dash) is out of adjustment. A tab on the shifter tube contacts and turns on the switch when lever is in reverse. The switch is easily adjusted by loosening the screws that hold it to the column and moving it side ways around the cloumn. Turn on ignition , place lever in reverse, and rotate switch around column and have ANDREW watch if the lights come on. :)
