In search for the correct spindles for my 38, I came accross an axle assembly sitting under the front frame rails of a 1937 sedan. Don't believe that it was on the car, but someone placed it there in the wrecking yard. The casting number is 3656872. In one of my references, it says this casting number is also the part number, but it isn't listed in my '40 parts catalog. The drag link is 15 1/4 long which I think is short by 10 inches for a 38. The spindles measure, according to my feeble caliper 3/4" on the small race surface and 1 1/4 on the big race surface. The pitman arm casting number is 395251. The 1 1/4 wheel cylinders are 1074903(one with large numbers and one with small numbers). Tie rods have the female type end that screw on the long steering rod. Right steering arm looks like a 37 arm I have, but it accepts the tierod stud, whereas the 37 arm has a ball. Drivers side arm is shaped different from the 37. Any idea on identification of these parts? I suspect 1/2 ton truck. Also do you think I could use these spindles on a 38 coupe i-beam axle? Any input or insight appreciated.

The 3656872 I beam was used on 1941-54 1/2 ton trucks. The 595251 pitman arm used on 1937-46 1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. I don't have the lengths of the drag links but the above would place it from a 1941-46 1/2 ton truck.
The 1938 extended wheel base taxi us all the front axle parts used on a 1938 1/2 ton truck. A note says that front spring seats were added. I see seats listed no where in the special taxi parts book. With some engineering it appears that the complete unit would work.
