I have a 1951 Chevy, 3 speed. It had a 216.
My '51' now has a 1955 235 engine.
How can I tell if the distributor being used in the 235 is the 216 OR the 235 distributor?
Thanks,
Bob
The '51 dist. would be # 1112362 or 363.The '55 distributor would be # 112403.
Neil
Sorry missed a 1 -should be 1112403.

Thanks for the numbers, Lucky .... is there a difference in the physical appearance of the 2 distributors? I was looking at Pertronics and saw comments about "tall cap" or "short cap". It's all not clear to me.
The '51 dist. used what I'd call a low profile cap. The '55 is much taller.

Ok Neil, that is what I'm looking for, thanks !

I have a '55 engine in my '54. What are the differences in these distributors? Don
Points, rotor, condenser and dist. cap the same.
Vacuum control different. I think the weights are the same.

Lucky 1,
Are the points, condenser and rotor the same on the 51 and 55 distributor?
Bob
The rotor is different.
Neil

Neil
So, rotor and cap different, cap is taller on 235. Points and condenser the same.
Thanks Lucky 1.
Bob
You're welcome and correct.
Neil
Does anyone have a photo of the 1955 235 distributor, showing a view from the cam gear to the cap? I'm unable to locate a good photo, showing the view I would like.
Thanks,
Bob
