Would Like to know what type of Fluid should be used
for the convertible top ??

I have used ATF in mine and it works fine.

Is it dry now and you are topping it os or all new and empty?

There is transmission fluid in there now.
If its better to remove the trans fluid,
I will change it out and replace it.

Most low viscosity oil will work well. Hydraulic fluid, brake fluid, ATF are all okay.
