Folks,

I am trying to document radiator identification for early six cylinder era Chevrolets. Can any of you help filling in the question marks. As an introduction the model number is reverse stamped into the top radiator tank as is the date code. The date code is last two digits of year then letter for month. If date code is another format or order please correct.

1929 Make = Harrison "Hexagon" honeycomb
Model = ????
Size = 3/8" cells???
Date code = YY M???

1930 Make = Harrison "hexagon" honeycomb
Model = ????
Size = 3/8" cells
Date code = YY M

1931 Make = Harrison "hexagon" honeycomb
Passenger & ½ ton
Model = 3053 - 34 sections of 3/8” cells
Date code = YY M
1 ½ ton truck
Model = 3054 - 36 sections of 5/16” cells
Date code = YY M

1932 Make = Harrison "hexagon" honeycomb
Passenger
Model = 3088?? - ?? sections of 3/8” cells
Date code = YY M
1/2 ton
Model = 3053?? - 34 sections of 3/8" cells
Date code = YY M
1 ½ ton truck
Model = 3088?? - ?? sections of 5/16” cells
Date code = YY M

1933 Make = Harrison cellular
Model = ???
Date code =

Feel free to add any additional years and models. Hopefully this will lead to a means to identify the correct radiator for all years, makes and models.

I can help you with 1933 Master & Standard. I also have 1934 Master. I can get that for you later...maybe tonight...Joe

I have a 32 with the original radiator so I will look tonight to check for you.

Mine (from a '31) is the Harrison 3053, dated 31 E. It leaks bad, so I have installed a honeycomb aftermarket unit from the 60's specifically made for '31 Chev.
A question I have is regarding neck length. I have the Viking flip top ornamental rad cap which fits fine on the aftermarket tank, which has a neck about 3/8" to 1/2" longer than the Harrison neck. Did all Harrisons of this period for Chevrolets have same neck height (on mine it is 5/8" above top of rad sheetmetal (not tank) and flush with opening in rad shell)?

I have the 1933 radiators here & I'll get the 1934 soon.

1933 Master is 31001. I have 2. "33 A" & "32 L". It has 40 rows 3/8 wide.

1933 Standard is 31002. I have a "33 A" (Earliest date known)
It has 33 rows 3/8 wide

Thanks Joe particularly for the '33 Standard. You are one of the few that could supply that number.

How about all you '32 owners? Skipper did you check your original '32 passenger radiator tank?

Dippy Chippy: I checked the radiator in my original 1932 and it is 3088. The year and month code is 32 B.

Mine is 3088-32D Hexagon.

So that means 3088 is confirmed as 1932 passenger radiator top tank. Now we just need to verify that is uses 3/8" hexagons and there are ??? rows. Also need to ID the 1/2 ton (fits into a '31 style shell) and 1 1/2 ton radiators.

Does anyone know what year and model a radiator with 31019 is for?

Bill,
First clue will be the date code stamped on the top tank.

Dave,
Do you know if one of the '29s might be truck? Based on the '31 information from the Engineering Features which gives the 1 1/2 ton truck as 5/16" hex cells versus 3/8" for passenger (and I assume 1/2 ton) measuring the cell size might help ID it.

Others & Dave,
Is 3075 different from 3088? Cell size? Width? length? thickness? Possibly 1/2 ton which fits the '31 style radiator shell?

Is the 3092 a '33 commercial radiator? 32 L is in the '33 production time frame.

Chipper, the guy I have been exchanging emails with said the date code is 33 K, and the embossed number is 31019, but jiaccino said 31001 and 31002 are 1933 numbers. I assume the K refers to November 1933. Were the 1934 models being produced in November 1933?

'29 H has a replacement F/S core. The other '29 has a replacement V cell core. '32 L has 5/16" honeycomb cells and is from a 1932 car made in Dec. 1931. I don't know if it's original to the car. '33 F has V cells, I think it has the original core.
