I am looking to upgrade the electric fuel pump on my 1933 207. The truck has had an electric pump on it since we bought it in 1971 so I want to stay with one.
Does anyone have experience with a brand of pump or ideas on what will be a good replacement?

I got a 6V pump, new, on eBay a couple of months ago, paid around $35 for it. It is an inline pump. I only used it to drain my tank when I dropped it to have it cleaned. The problem with newer pumps is the pressure is around 6-8 psi, so you would have to have some kind of pressure reducer to bring it down to around 2 to 3 psi. Have you had problems with a mechanical pump?

There are several issues with fuel pumps both mechanical and electrical. Matching the output pressure to the needle/seat of the carburetor. Many older carburetors will only tolerate less than 2 psi.Trash in the fuel system will impede the pump operation as well as the needle/seat. Electric pumps work as long as there is power to it. Mechanical pumps only when the engine is running. There are advantages and deficiencies with each type. And the elephant in the room, tolerance with ethanol containing fuel. Be sure that what ever pump you use it is ethanol compatible.

I've used a K&N electric fuel pump for 4 or 5 years now with no problems what so ever . No more vapor lock or
long cranking times in the hot summers here in Arizona.

This truck has never had a mechanical pump on it, just the electric which has worked really well. I will have to look on the old pump to see if there is any info on the pressure it produces.

When we shut the truck off for the last time (15 years or so ago) this pump was working. I just thought it was time to upgrade.

We do have one fuel station in our area that sells non ethanol gas, I was thinking of running only that.

I see that the K&N electric fuel pumps are 12 volt pumps. How are you hooking them into a 6 volt system?

I have been told that the 12 volt pumps just run slower and at a lower pressure when hooked to 6 volts. I DO NOT have personal experience.

Here is my new Aeromotive Electric Fuel Pump #11259 I opted for this on my new 34 Chevy build! Mainly because my 33 Ford with a 400sbc last year had the ethonal gas damaged the fuel pump diaphragm and fuel got into my engine for a free engine wash out! The good thing was it happened in my garage! Oh and then a year later that gas had ate thru my accerator pump diaphragm and then had to replace it with the new nitrous gas resistant rubber! It’s like cat and mouse with this fuel crap that they keep charging! Rory
