Its from a 1954 Power Glide engine. The 1955-62 235 dist. was a 1112403.The one you have will work OK but has a little different advance curve
In the later years all the original distributors were discontinued and the 1112403 was sold as a replacement for 1940-1962 216's and 235's.

The only Chevrolet's in 1960 that had a ballast resistor were the special high performance 348 engines. The six cylinder had a resistor wire (20 gauge white) going to the coil from the ignition switch in the run position. So don't waste you time looking for one, what is the exact problem?

To remove the collar, disconect the battery place the ignition switch in the lock position. Find a small punch or finishing nail and place it in the small hole on the lock cylinder. Push in the nail while turning the key to the left, the lock should fall right out and then you can remove the retaining nut.
Good luck
John

ill add this here also.Ive had the car running and out of the grage twice but it was running rough. I replaced the plugs and it was still rough and then wouldnt start .Seemed to only run while cranking,I replaced the distributor ,points rotor and cap.Ran better but a little off.Next day wouldnt start.Next day started and ran rough.Ihad a mechanic friend over and he ran a hotlead from the starter through a old ford ballast resistor and it ran fantastic.Today i ran the white resitor to positive on the coil and ran the purple to the selenoid. It started but ran rough.Shut it off to recheck fireing order and make sure all conections were good and again it wouldnt start.I turned the key on and pulled the coil wire and cranke and got a good 1/2 inch ark.It was more ornge than blue.DIsconected the purple and no spark as should be.I checked the conections at the neuteral safty switch and its good and clean. The switch however has not worked sinse i have had the car. There are two sets of prongs on the switch, one that the wire from the solenoid at ataches to but nothing hooked up on the other two.Are they for backup lights? The only thing i havent changed is the coilas it runs great with the external resistor but intermittently and rough with out it whith the wires hooked up corectly. Its driven me crazy and im driveing it nowhere.Any ideas
