Radiator in my 34 half ton pickup has developed a leak. What is the "easiest" way to remove the radiator? Do I have to basically take the hood, etc. off and remove the radiator and shell, etc, and then separate the radiator? Or, can I get at it from "under the hood, and take it out separately?"
Thanks. wjb

Yep, you pretty much have to take apart the front half of the truck.....

I was able to leave my hood in place when I removed the radiator and shell from my 33 sedan. I was working alone and found it easier to do it that way. I removed the hoses and propped the hood with a piece of wood from the top of the valve cover, then unbolted and removed the shell.

I have had the radiator in and out of my 35 std twice recently. After the radiator was rebuilt with the top tank from one unit and core from another I could not get the fill opening to clear the radiator shell for cap clearance. Hence the in and out. Rather than go back to the shop I decided to file the mounting holes to the shell framing to elongate the holes by about 1/4 inch. Fits ok now. If you have major repairs done, double check the radiator to shell fit before reinstalling. I went the hood and shell removal route and only had to get help with the hood so I would not scratch things too badly.
