The first day of the four-day annual JYD adventure is now completed. About 28 dudes showed up for this exciting event, including Billy Boy Barker Doodle, Steve "The Filling Station" Kassis, and Antique Mechanic...all from the Chevy Chatter Forum.

The first tour of the day consisted of six large warehouses out in the middle of a pear orchard where hundreds of cars of all types could be found, both in the buildings and out in the orchard. Chevrolets were abundant, including 1955-57 Bel Airs; Convertibles, Station Wagons and a Nomad. Dale Earnhardt's "Signature" Camaro was there too, which is supposedly one of three built. Many Corvettes were on site, including a 1954 model. Packards, Cadillacs, Pontiacs, Studebakers, Two GMC pickup Suburbans, and many other convertibles were on site as well.

The next stop of the day was to view a massive collection of beautiful vintage jukeboxes, games, and slot machines.

The third, and last tour of the day, consisted of a very nice collection of some super collector cars way out in the woods in Southwestern Oregon, in a metal garage facility. One of the cars on display was Bobby Unser's original 1969 Torino Pikes Peak Word Record car.......all in original condition. This puppy only had 700 horsepower! A black 1957 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery was here too, along with a really cool 1953 F O R D Sedan Delivery loaded with every new old stock accessory known for 1953. Tomorrow is another day, with much more vintage tin just waiting to be found!

To be continued....... yipp laugh laugh laugh

On day two we visited a street-rod collector who had fantastic high-tech, state-of-the-art street rods. The dudes must have really enjoyed this stop because we spent way more time there than what was allowed on the tour schedule.

Our next stop was in Ashland, Oregon where we visited a vintage machine shop just chuck-full of old automotive machinery and new old stock parts. Antique engines are still being rebuilt there today and by the same machinist that has been there for years. The building that the shop is housed in was, at one time, an old fire station that dates back to 1905. On the wall of the facility is a photo of the fire station with a horse-drawn fire engine and the crew, including horses, sitting out in front of the building. And, next door were the stables where the horses were kept. The area is still there to this day, but horses are no longer stabled there....naturally. The guys really loved this stop.

Next, we visited a car collection owned by a fellow who is an old NASCAR driver and he is in the NASCAR Hall of Fame. He had a great selection of collector cars, and the "spread" where he lives is great too.

From there we headed to the North end of the Rogue River Valley to see a gas pump and sign collection, and from there the crew ended up in Sam's Valley to view a great Lincoln car collection.

After that.....we all headed to the Junkyard Dogs' hometown of Eagle Point for Pizza and beer, where, naturally, everyone got wild. Fun, fun, fun! And, there is more to come because tomorrow starts day three of this exciting adventure!

Wonder how much the shipping would be to get my motor to them to rebuild? From Florida to Oregon.

I still have not found a shop to do the rebuild for a '32 motor...

Hey Macky Wacky! You are totally correct about that! The old dog has been under the weather all week and tonight he is ready to collapse in his lushly furnished dog house and sleep pleasant dreams about blue-eyed blondes and old cars......in that order!

Okay, day three is completed, and it was a very long day. The Junkyard Dogs and the gang probably traveled 150 miles today to view rare Chevrolets and other treasures. Some of the items on today's menu were a 1921 Chevrolet 490, a 1932 Chevy Sport Coupe and a 1924 Marmon aluminum bodied sedan. All of the above were tucked neatly away in an open-air barn. And, the rare find of the day, also in the same barn, was a kinda rough, but very restorable, 1932 Chevrolet Phaeton, with the genuine Chevrolet accessory extension trunk and rack on the back!

Other cars viewed in various private collections were a 1937 Cord Cabriolet, a 1937 Packard, a 1941 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery and many other neat vehicles, such as a whole slue of antique Indian motorcycles. A small wrecking yard was also visited that contained some automotive gold, and a professional street rod paint shop was also checked out, and the owner gave an excellent and very informative seminar on how to put ghost flames on a street rod hood. By the way, paint jobs in this shop start at $10,000 and go up from there, but the paint jobs are the state-of-the-art as well!

Also made a stop at Sunrise Color in the pine hills of Grants Pass, Oregon. Many, many desirable collectibles are on site here, including gas pumps, vintage signs, neon clocks (one was a Chevrolet "Time" clock), and etc. Also, out in the pine trees could be found dozens of 1920's to early 1930's cars, all rust colored, and the sight was awesome!

And.....the guys were treated to a vintage car lot in Grants Pass, Oregon where all of the cars on the lot are for sale, and many of them were Chevrolets!

Tomorrow starts day four! Oh this tired old mutt!

Day four is completed, and this year's annual Junkyard Dog Adventure is over. Today was a mini-tour day for those stragglers that wanted to stay behind and check out a few more places. Nineteen folks stayed behind and went on the three mini-tours today and we had lots of fun.

The first stop was to see a vintage house that was built in 1870 (in Oregon.....that's old!!) that sits out on the main highway, and the old mutt (the caretaker of the spread) gave everyone a tour of both the outside and the inside of the house. Known as the "Wood House", this is the most photographed house in the Pacific Northwest.

The next stop was to Harley Dude Joe's place where antique motorcycles and pinball machines were checked out. One of the motor cycles on display was an all original 1915 New Hudson, and it is the only 1915 known to exist. Other bikes included a 1931 New Hudson, a BMW cop bike, a 1951 Sunbeam Sport 8, a Harley FLH in full dress, including a matching tow behind trailer and a matching side car. Other bikes were enjoyed as well.

Then, over to the Junkyard Dog's doghouse for a quick-see at some old stuff......you know....bones, rubber toys, a fire hydrant and etc. "Francis", the Fisher Body Napoleonic Coach was a big hit too. Brownies and Beer were served and then the adventure officially ended. Everyone attending seemed to have a great time, and we are looking forward to hopefully doing this again next year.

Glad that some of our friends on Chevy Chatter, were able to attend! Your tour leaders (Ronnie The Rascal, Tailfinn Al, Harley Dude Joe, and the Junkyard Dog) had a great time with everyone the past four days, and thanks to you all for coming!

When are you going to have a JYD Tour with vintage Chevrolets? Wouldn't it be nice to drive vintage Chevys through the Autumn Are We Gone weather? Besides maybe it would give an incentive for the doggie to get that '30 Coupe on the road. Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha. Bet it will never happen! Maybe the '32 Cabriolet or '32 Special Sedan or ? Not holding my breath.

This is a "Junkyard Dog" tour, not a car tour! Where have you been for the last 20 years Chipper Dipper Doodle? Heck, you even went on one of our Junkyard Dog tours and we visited some wrecking yards, garages, private collections, and the like. Even sucked up some beer and pizza, and checked out the ladies too! The JYD tours are very laid back and not highly organized. What happens, happens. We go with the flow! Since we are "down and dirty" dudes, we prefer wrecking yards, technical seminars, hunting out in the brush, and cool garages. We don't tour around in suits and ties like you dudes on car tours way down there in good old Texas. We prefer holy blue jeans, tee shirts, beat up baseball caps, boots and a can of beer in one hand. The more rusty relics we find the better. And, we even let the "Dorf" dudes and the Harley dudes come with us, 'cause they are cool doodles too and we have so much fun looking at rust and such that we are all delirious! Oh, by the way......no stupid bugles allowed on our Junkyard Dog tours either!

Yep, rust is where it's at. Now, that's a real tour! Ask Raymondo and Billy Boy Barker.......they'll tell ya! Ha ha!

JYD, I don't know about them Texas tours you talked about sounds boreing to me, must be a different bunch of tourers than what I been around, They just let Chipper blow his bugle to keep his adrenalin in check. He even wears his Faded Glory jeans, they are the ones with plain pockets. Sometimes he even wears a shirt. Sometimes shoes!

PS You gotta remember
...this is the new version of the Chipper Dipper Bugglein'Sweet Chipper.

Brang one of them old Chevrolets 30 31 or 32 and we will haul you around on an open trailer iffen it won't run, Amarillo (Southern Annual Fall Tour) VCCA members only, Starting on October 13 would be a good test and you could help me fix up one of my junkers for a big show brang some extra parts, I will brang the Colorado Cool Aid!!
Maybe we can get Sweet old Chipper to divy in on the fees.

I don't think Dawgs flush, just sniff and scratch and do a lot of hicking of the rear leg.

I been kinda' sad on the dawgie side since Rex The Wondering Dog was killed several weeks ago, he tried to cross the highway in front of a BFI trash truck and lost the race and his life. Maybe he knew that he was going to the vet the next day to be neurtered, You never know about those things..
