JYD Adventure Update! - 09/24/04 01:40 AM
The first day of the four-day annual JYD adventure is now completed. About 28 dudes showed up for this exciting event, including Billy Boy Barker Doodle, Steve "The Filling Station" Kassis, and Antique Mechanic...all from the Chevy Chatter Forum.
The first tour of the day consisted of six large warehouses out in the middle of a pear orchard where hundreds of cars of all types could be found, both in the buildings and out in the orchard. Chevrolets were abundant, including 1955-57 Bel Airs; Convertibles, Station Wagons and a Nomad. Dale Earnhardt's "Signature" Camaro was there too, which is supposedly one of three built. Many Corvettes were on site, including a 1954 model. Packards, Cadillacs, Pontiacs, Studebakers, Two GMC pickup Suburbans, and many other convertibles were on site as well.
The next stop of the day was to view a massive collection of beautiful vintage jukeboxes, games, and slot machines.
The third, and last tour of the day, consisted of a very nice collection of some super collector cars way out in the woods in Southwestern Oregon, in a metal garage facility. One of the cars on display was Bobby Unser's original 1969 Torino Pikes Peak Word Record car.......all in original condition. This puppy only had 700 horsepower! A black 1957 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery was here too, along with a really cool 1953 F O R D Sedan Delivery loaded with every new old stock accessory known for 1953. Tomorrow is another day, with much more vintage tin just waiting to be found!
To be continued.......
