We brought a radio a few months ago but arent sure which year it is from. It has 8962 on the rear of it and a plate on the side that says B47-27663. Iis quite a big unit, looks nothing like some of the ones on ebay. It has a grey face with 4 buttons in the lower centre, Chevrolet written above this, and 1 tuner dial each side - assume one is volume. They arent knobs. Any help identifying this would be fantastic - we have pics if that would help
Thanks!
Maree

That radio was called the "direct tone " radio by Chevrolet. It was their lowest priced radio and offered in 1947-48.It would mount thru the factory dash opening in the 1947-48 cars and was also considered a "universal" radio that could be mounted in any car.It was only a 4 tube radio where as the better one had 5 tubes.
