Does anyone have or know of a maroon
non-metallic spray paint that is close to the original color of the bezel and the escutcheons used in the 1947-1953 truck radios?

I have never found anything on the shelf that was satisfactory. I had to have it mixed by a paint supplier from a sample.

You might try some of the well stocked hobby shops, as over the past decade, there have been a lot of new introductions of colors, of product lines, etc. Some of the waterborne types are noteworthy too.

I knew a Porsche owner who bought a 3 dollar bottle of hobby paint rather than the overpriced paint from the dealership and had a perfect match.

Sometimes you cannot beat the mixed colors from an autobody supply house, but there are at least more options to check now.

Considering that the radio bezel is not going to get a lot of weather, they should be plenty durable.

There is a theoretical chance too- because the pigments are universal- that you could have a hardware store mix a can of Rustoleum, or XOrust White; to match the marroon, and save a few dollars.

Your paint idea sounds good; they could mix a standard color and leave out the metallic.

Warren . "Plasti-coat" makes an aerosol that matches the maroon dial housing. Look for color # FM-8125. I can get it at Pep Boys. chevy
