Am reassembling my rebuilt 216. Can someone please help me with where the oil filter hoses attach and where the oil pressure line that goes to the guage on the dash attaches. I thought that I took a photo of that side of the engine as I was disassembling but cannot find it. Thanks, Robin Wise

The gauge oil pressure line and the inlet feed line that goes to the side of the oil filter both attach to the tapped hole on the lower left side of the block. It is just to the rear of the exhaust pipe and in the raised buldge that is the main oil gallery. It is just below the verticle side of the engine and above the flated out area that is the lowest part of the block. When the engine is equipped with a filter a T is screwed into the block so both can be attached,The return line goes into the threaded hole just below the oil distributor valve cover.

ChevNut, thanks for the reply. My engine came back from the rebuild with a T coming out of the oil gallery and a small copper tube "loop" going up to a threaded port above and to the right of the oil gallery which I think connects to the line inside the block going up to the rocker arms. The T on the gallery has one open threaded port then there are two other ports in the block, one below and to the left of the oil gallery and one above and to the right of the gallery. Is that clear as mud. I would post a photo if I know how. I am assuming that the oil pressure guage line goes into the T and the two lines from the filter cannister go into the other two ports. Which line from the filter goes to which line on the block? That is my confusion. Thanks

Hi 2thdoc,

STOP! If I understand your description correctly the "port" ABOVE and to the RIGHT is the location for a petcock used to drain the coolant from the block. The OIL line goes to the port BELOW and to the LEFT.

No, Mech. The petcock is in place. There are three other ports in the block plus the one in the oil gallery

Just a silly question but is one of those "ports" where the stud screws in for the accelerator linkage?

No Mr. Mack, The bell crank stud for the accel linkage is also there. There is a famale threaded port just to the right of that dirctly under the freeze plug. Another port is directly below that one about 3 inches. The third one is just below the oil gallery.
