Hi Solo- Yep- That's the correct lighter for Advanced Design trucks, also the correct accessory for 1937-1951 cars and trucks.

Dog- You may be right. The 1950 accessory catalog said 1937-1950. I cross-checked with my 1951 parts catalog and it said the same # up to 1951. I assumed it was the same lighter.

Speedline: Yep, they show a picture of the lighter in the 1951 accessory catalog and it is different than the one shown in the photo on this forum. It has a plastic ivory colored knob with a metal insert, just like the one in my car.

Starting in 1951, the cigar lighters in the cars matched the other knobs on the dash. :p :)

Solo. It is an original lighter. They are now making a nice repo. cig. lighter that has the same knob as the headlight switch & it looks great.

Trucker- I have an NOS 1950 GMC lighter in the box, that is identical in design to the one in the accessory catalog, that has a Casco tag on it. I would imagine that the Chevrolet was made by Casco also.

Does your NOS GMC Casco lighter have a light which would be hooked in line with the dash lights? ?

Original part # for the Chevy truck cig. lighter & light was 986403 [ this part # was specific for the truck only ]& the instructions included wiring to the headlight switch for the running light in the lighter base. Just curious, what is the part # on that nos GMC lighter box??
