well, good for you, I don't know personally, but I heard a couple of guys discussing this on the SSTV in Arkansas and they had not missed a mile of the tour with their 27 or 28 cars, They said they coated the inside of the tank and dipped the float in gas tank coating material like you use to fix old leaky gas tanks with.

Coating the inside parts of the vacuum tank will seal the small cracks and leaks. Be careful not to put too thick a layer on the float as it will get too heavy. Also make sure that the coating material is compatible with the gas in your area. There is a person around here that cleaned his fuel system, coated the gas tank and now has intermittant problems with a rubbery substance plugging the carb needle & seat or other restricted areas. He has filters on the system and is considering adding a settling bowl.

The real secret is to keep the system clean and filter the gas, keep the tank either full or empty, add gas stabilizer if gas remains in tank for a couple of months or more. Every couple of years or so you will need to rinse tank and carb fuel areas with good carb cleaner. You will be able to tell when float begins to stick or the brown-black gooy stuff begins to build up on the outside of the carb bowl or it does not idle as well.
