I think that someone posted here earlier that the 2011 meet was going to be in Missouri? However, I have heard previously that it was going to be in the Michigan area.

The Board tenatively approved Flint, MI as the location, at the Board meeting in March.

at the tech center? NCRS had a National convention there in the early 90's and we also toured the GM building in detroit as well as the Proving grounds. neat places and not to far from Maryland. will plan on catching this one. mike

It was announced at the 45th Anniversary Meet banquet that the 50th Anniversary Meet will be held in St. Joseph, Missouri in 2011. Home of the Pony Express.

Hoppy,
I think what you heard (at the Sunday night MidWest gathering) was that the 2007 Midwest Meet would be held in St. Joseph, Missouri.

MrMack! OK, I stand corrected. To err is human, but why must I be so human? I did win the bottle of Two Rivers wine at the banquet, do you think that`s what did it?

Hoppy, not unless you drank it all by yourself! I think St. Joe would be a good place myself. closer to home and we could subsitute some corn squeezings for the vino, OK?

2011 is VCCA's 50th More importantly Chevrolet's 100th It only makes sense to celebrate Chevrolet's 100th and VCCA's 50th where it all began. Flint, Michigan.

It is my understanding that Chevrolet does not know if they are going to celebrate in 2011 or 2012.

Well maybe we will have to celebrate by ourselves. Aren't we locked in for 2011 for the 50th Anniversary meet? I hope there is still a GM & a Chevrolet Division by 2011, keep your fingers crossed, and keep on buying those Chevrolet Trucks!
After all we are the ones (VCCA) with the REAL CHEVROLET CARS! He! He!

GM (Chevrolet) has not decided when, where or if they're going to celebrate their 100th. The VCCA decided to go ahead with its own plans to celebrate our 50th in Flint in 2011. Maybe Chevrolet will join us! If we wait until Chevrolet makes a decision it might be too late to get the venue we need. As an example, take a look at how long it took Chevrolet to decide to donate money to our 45th Anniversary meet. We found out a few weeks before the meet that they would give us a donation - too late to plan for it. The wheels of Big Business sure do grind slow!!! ChevyBill

We can let them (GM)know about our plans and give them a fair chance to join us in 2011, rain or shine! feast, or famine!

My understanding is that we (VCCA) haven't completed our negotiations with the appropriate entities yet, so as of now we haven't officially selected Flint as the final location for 2011. In case any spies are reading this, there is a second location that is still in the running.
I assume that when we get the contracts all locked-in, that the Board will officially announce the site selection. In the meantime, let's keep our fingers crossed that Chevrolet (and GM) are still around in five years to offer some support.

If Chevrolet made a donation to late to plan for it I suggest that money be placed in an account for the 2011 meet. We shouldn't have to scramble every five years to get the money to cover expenses. As the person who purchased the awards for the 2001 Anniversary Meet when it came time to make a deposite I was told that VCCA did not have the money until registrations started to come in. This is operating to close to the belt. We know there is going to be a meet in five years. Plan for it.

Back Roads, That sounds good to me, I think it had been suggested that the BOD set aside an amount of "Seed Money" to the Anniversary Meet Committee, in the past, but it didn't pass. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong....

I have come to realize that we VCCA members are having some good dialog about VCCA operations and policy affairs here. I like the idea of open discussions between the VCCA general membership in a location such as we have here, I think it will be better when we have a portion of the site open only to current members, we may tend to be more open and frank and not take up the time of our visitors to the site. We do need to continue to allow non-members to benefit from the information here about our members and the club in general, that is one good recruiting tool. (IMHO)

Seed money has always been available to the Chairs of an Anniversary Meet. It is the option of the Meet Chair(s) to use those funds. Actually in order to run the meets, contracts are signed that obligate the assets of the entire VCCA. So despite what some are told, the fact is that VCCA funds are always available until the accounts are depleted. It is a sobering responsibility of the Chair(s) to be financially prudent knowing that a major financial mistake could result in the demise of the VCCA as we know it.
In the two meets where I was most directly involved both received seed money. One time we returned the seed before the meet. The other will be after the meet was over.

i was at the 45 th anniversary banquet when mr. randel made the announcement that chevrolet division would make a contribution to the anniversary meet he did not say in what year , amount or if the check was in the mail for as i know chevrolet may give each one that attended the meet a employee discount on the purchase of a new chevrolet or 1500 off certain models . i doubt if the club will see any $$$$ . in the past it did not take long to get the check . dont count on any money until it shows up
